A Poem Written by My Cousin
ALICE
I saw her at family gatherings, reunions,
funerals and such.
We said our usual hello, how are you,
a gentle hug or touch.
I admired her manner of speaking, her pretty
piercing eyes,
but the miles that were between us kept us
from bonding ties.
A wonderful smile, laughter so intriguing,
petite and oh so shy,
I wished that I could talk to her, but alas,
so was I.
The years went by for both of us, our
youth almost spent,
what a shame we were not close as the
years came and went.
Then one day the Lord brought us
together through what's
called the internet, now we are like
sister's, how much closer
can you get? She is my strong shoulder
when I really need to cry,
And we're not shy anymore, as those who
know us can verify,
Thank you God for my dear sister whose
heart holds no malice,
Bless her Lord as I know you will,
my sister, my friend, my Alice.
