I've never made a fortune,
and it's probably too late now.
I'm happy anyhow
And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
Haven't got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going's tough
But I've got loving ones all around me,
and that makes me rich enough.
I thank GOD for his Blessings,
and the Mercies HE's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin,
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.
So LORD, help me not to gripe,
about the tough rows I have hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
If GOD gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings,
I'm already Blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Think I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

When I think of how many people in this world have it worse than I do.
I realize just how Blessed We really are.![]()

I never met my grandfather...he died when my father was thirteen years old. But my father told me last summer that my grandfather would drink his coffee from the saucer.
I wish I could have known him, but God has decided that will happen beyond the pearly gates on the streets of gold! I can't wait!
Thanks for sharing!
That's always been one of my favorite songs. They play it all the time on our radio station here. It's a good reminder to have, that's for sure.
Have a blessed evening!

I love that. Praying that we would all be drinking from our saucer.
Hey, I have heard this before and it's great. Glad you shared this!
Have a Wonderful Blessed filled day! :)

Hi Alice
(((Hugz))) I remember this poem, I never heard the song. We used this poem one time in our Women's Tea Party Program, I've always loved the words. So how are you doing today my sistah!! oh I know how hard being still can be, it's a challenge for me as well, but just take it slowly, 5 minutes here and there and slowly work your way to a time that is comfortable for you. My goal is just being able to sit still 15 minutes and in that time I will spend 5 minutes each in the word, prayer, and listening, Lets cheer each other on we can do it!!!!

Hello Alice,
Just stopping by to say Hello friend and you blessed me again with your post.
It reminded me of how my Grandmother used to drink from her saucer...she is still living and I don't know that I have seen her do that in quite a while.
hope this finds you well,
hugs to you,
Kim
Hi Alice! Happy New Year! I know it's been awhile. I like that song's words. Thanks for sharing! The quote that stuck out to me today was when it talked about others having it worse than I do. Isn't that so true but so easily forgetten at times!
Love to you my dear friend!
Nicole
Oh, by the way, I love the winking baby at the end! So cute!
